Upper Canada’s Nosey Goat Cheeses
aren’t kidding at
The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
The inviting aroma, rich flavour and smooth texture of Upper Canada’s Camelot Goat cheese
make it difficult to resist. On Friday November 3rd, judges at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
in Toronto agreed, naming Camelot - Reserve Champion, Goat Cheese.
Equally irresistible to the judges was Upper Canada’s Nanny Noire, awarded 2nd place in the
goat camembert class.
“At the Upper Canada Cheese Company, we are committed to providing our customers with the
highest quality artisan cheeses,” says Vivian Szebeny, Managing Partner. “These awards are a
testament to the expertise of our staff, our meticulous cheese making process and the superior
local ingredients that go into every curd of Upper Canada Cheeses.”
Upper Canada’s Nosey Goat cheeses are made only with milk from a rare herd of Lamancha
Goats pastured at Gord and Melanie Wood’s Idllywood Farm in Keene Ontario and cared for by
the entire Wood family.
“This fresh, pure milk is then transformed into Camelot and Nanny Noire. Camelot ages for 2
months in our cellars, while camembert style Nanny is rolled in ash, allowed to develop its
bloomy rind and is ready to be enjoyed within weeks.” says Lauren Petryna, Head Cheese-
Maker.
Members of the media and public are invited to experience Upper Canada’s award winning
cheeses at their booth at the Royal Winter Fair, at Fine Food Retailers and the Upper Canada
Creamery store in the Niagara Peninsula.
